Overview
A fast-growing retail chain with fourteen shops across two cities was managing stock on paper and in scattered spreadsheets. Managers only discovered shortages when shelves were already empty, and month-end reconciliation took a full week.
The Challenge
Each shop recorded sales and deliveries differently, internet connectivity was unreliable in several locations, and most staff had never used a business application before. The solution had to work offline, be learnable in one afternoon and give head office a single, trustworthy view of stock.
Our Solution
We designed an offline-first mobile app for shop staff to record sales, deliveries and stock counts with barcode scanning, syncing automatically whenever a connection is available. Head office received a web dashboard with live stock levels per shop, automatic reorder alerts and daily sales reports. We ran on-site training in every shop during rollout.
The Results
- Stock-outs reduced by 62% in the first quarter
- Month-end reconciliation cut from 5 days to 4 hours
- All 14 shops live within 6 weeks of launch
- Shrinkage identified and reduced by 18%
